University interviews

Before

The Interview

After

Get yourself a strong cup of tea and a nice sit-down.

Don’t hang up your notebook just yet, though.

As soon as possible after the interview, send a thank-you note or e-mail directly to your interviewer or interviewers, thanking them for their time and the opportunity to learn more about the course/university, and (assuming you’re still mad keen) reiterating your interest.

Then jot down a few notes about how the interview went. What questions were you asked? What answers did you give? And what answers could you have given differently?

This will be key preparation for any subsequent interviews and, if you make it a habit, will stand you in good stead for job interviews, too.

But however you think it went, you’ve done the hard work and now all you can do is wait for the outcome. Let us know how you get on.
